Grammar
Countable / Uncountable nouns
În engleză unele substantive nu se numără: water, bread, sugar, milk. Folosim „some” cu ele, nu „a/an”.
- some water (nu „a water”)
- two breads → two loaves of bread
- a piece of cake
- much sugar / many apples
Would like vs. want
„I want” sună brutal. La restaurant și în situații politicoase folosim „I would like” (I'd like).
- I'd like a table for two, please.
- Would you like dessert?
- I'd like the steak, well done.
